This community of artists is a family! Encouraging and loving to everyone involved. I stumbled across watercolor on YouTube and decided it was time to give it a try. I’ve learned so much since joining The Garden Studio and feel like the members are part of an extended family. I appreciate all the members so willing to accept each member and provide encouragement. I made 50 bookmarks for our church Thanksgiving baskets and now I’ve got people asking me to make some for them, and they want to purchase them! I’m nowhere near where I want to be, but I’ll get there with Alex and others to guide me!

"Before joining The Garden Studio, my creative life was finger painting and sidewalk chalk with my 5 grandkids. I didn't think I had an artistic bone in my body! I saw my first Watercolor Week bouquet and thought it would be an absolute miracle if I could paint anything so stunning. But when I finished my painting, I was over the moon elated and proud of myself. I couldn't believe that in one week I could learn so much! Since joining The Garden Studio, I see things differently. I look at nature and flowers completely differently — I notice the details, and I love to capture that when I paint. The Garden Studio has helped me become more patient and quiet my overthinking mind. I have a lot more confidence in myself, and it has taught me to be forgiving and kind to myself when I make mistakes. I told myself, 'I do very little for myself, and I am a very giving person — so why not give myself this gift?'"

I had always dreamed of being able to paint with watercolors and TGS has given me the tools and taught techniques that has given me confidence and has fueled my passion for the art. I’ve loved the add on lessons such as color, calligraphy and watercolor journaling. Prior to being a part of this community, I wouldn’t set foot in an art store. Thanks to lessons in TGS I’m no longer intimidated by going into Blicks. I love going in to look at supplies!! In just a few months, I’ve joined in with local drawing groups and am painting cards for all my friends! And I can guarantee you that at least one family member will get a watercolor painting from me for Christmas!!

The Garden Studio is a life changing membership. When you join, you will be welcomed into the community with open arms and the best, most knowledgeable watercolor teacher and her team! Inside the membership is a comprehensive learning experience, packed to the brim with all the tools you will need to become a thriving watercolor artist. I now paint for friends and family, which I would never have done on my own.

Being a part of the supportive Garden Studio community has also been instrumental in my journey towards more love for art and appreciation of the journey. Before I joined The Garden Studio I had major frustration with plant leaves, but since joining I am learning lots of helpful techniques.
If you're interested in learning and enjoying watercolor botanical painting you owe it to yourself to check out The Garden Studio. From beginners to more seasoned artists, The Garden Studio offers the techniques, tutorials and live painting sessions you are looking for!

I tried different YouTube videos, but they were all random. I tried books too, but that didn't work for me either. After joining The Garden Studio, I can confidently say that I am excited that I can do this. Watercoloring is really possible! Joining The Garden Studio has opened up a whole new world of joy, patience, and celebration.

"My mind used to be full of negative self-criticism, and I always put my needs on the back burner. Since joining The Garden Studio, I do a lot less negative self-talk and I feel more confident in my capabilities in life. Painting nourishes my mind and soul."
Gabriela Casario
"Watercolor painting was something I had wanted to learn for 40 to 50 years. My life seems happier now. I wasn't unhappy by any stretch, but there's a sense of serenity. I've taken time to do something for me. The biggest win? Letting myself believe I am an artist — that's HUGE. Don't overthink it. Take some time for yourself."

I have found a joy that I didn’t know I could have by joining The Garden Studio. I have branched out and started creating my own original work. Seeing my progression from beginning to now has been mentally gratifying. TGS makes me want to paint every day. I really enjoy being able to set aside time to create something new, even if I mess up. I’ve learned that everyone has the “talent” to paint. It’s about practice and patience. Even if you make a muddy mess, there is a lesson to learn.

Since joining The Garden Studio, I can acutally paint what I have in my head, and I'm happy with my work. I also have learned so much about art in general from the variety of lessons. The community is very supportive which I didn't expect from an online community. Fantastic value for my money. I love every minute, even when it feels hard. I can go as deep or as surface-level as I want to. It's not about talent. It is a skill that can be learned and improved with good instruction and practice. These are turbulent times in our nation and there's not a lot I can do to improve it. I feel peace and joy when I'm painting. I also can see that I am growing as an artist, and that's very satisfying.

I am so amazed by my transformation since joining The Garden Studio. I have gained a lot of confidence. My sister-in-law is very creative, and I used to feel a little envious of her talent — I didn't want to show my progress. But when she finally saw my paintings, she was amazed how well I did. Now we paint together, and it feels great! I love it when I'm in The Garden Studio — it brings me peace when I feel overwhelmed.

"I treated myself to this membership as a Mother's Day gift. I deserve it! This class has helped me make myself a higher priority in my own life. I have a lot of responsibilities helping my disabled husband, and this gives me the refreshing break that I need. It is my therapy."

Another change is that I'm beginning to let go of perfectionism. I used to let a mistake, or fear of making a mistake, STOP me from painting. This, of course, would stop me from practicing, and learning, and being creative. I'm now finally learning to let go of mistakes and keep on painting, and I've progressed further as a result.
Before I joined The Garden Studio I had no direction, and no support, but since joining I am more focused, and making more progress!
Laurie Ross
You couldn't ask for better support and encouragement in your watercolor journey. I feel surrounded by goodness and light. I wish I could give back as much as I've been given here but I think that is impossible task as this community just keeps giving. Before I joined The Garden Studio, I had no idea how to paint or what supplies to purchase to work up to my potential, but since joining I am painting better than I ever thought I could, due to the wonderful teaching skills of Alex. I also know that what you use makes a difference in your final painting and I know what those materials are. We were even informed of where to find them at a discount.

This is the most supportive online community I have ever been associated with! I love being a part of this group.
I tried classes but never got past techniques, never got to paint anything. I tried YouTube but couldn’t find the right fit. The wildflower week was just what I wanted and the garden studio fits my needs perfectly. I am now on a journey in watercolors.

"For two years I was struggling to make sense of it all — buying a ton of the wrong paper, the wrong paints, the wrong brushes, and trying to learn from a variety of videos, books, and in-person classes. I was frustrated most of the time. After joining The Garden Studio, I have found joy in the entire process. I'm even branching out, making my own drawings, creating my own compositions, and most importantly — losing my fear. I am worth it. I have wasted too much time and energy over the last two years feeling stagnated in my artistic growth."
Terry Major-Holliday
The community is like a soft, warm blanket of support and encouragement. No one is more critical of me than myself. I was afraid to post my work because it wasn't "good enough" but I realized I wasn't getting the full benefit of the program so bit the bullet and posted. Everyone is so very positive and encouraging. It is a very safe space.
Before I joined The Garden Studio I had no guidance, but since joining I am Happily following our leader, Alex, alongside a bunch of folks just like me.

After trying to dabble on my own with an occasional class, I ran across the Garden Studio FREE WEEK offer and decided to give it a try. I finished the series of classes, signed up for the monthly subscription and haven't looked back! In just three months I have learned new things, attended both recorded and live classes while adapting to a weekly practice to build my skills. I have watched my skills improve steadily and my enjoyment of the process increase. The guided paths are amazing and adapt easily to my schedule and skill focus. Alex is a wonderful teacher and the supportive and positive environment is very special.

Before I joined The Garden Studio, I had Rudimentary skills, but since joining I am Happy with my skill development.
I discovered Alex’s was offering her Wildflower tutorial and the price and timing was right. In a short week, I learned so much and decided to join the Garden Studio. As a beginner watercolorist, I appreciate the stages Alex has created in The Garden Studio. At any time, I know where I am in my journey and my path. My confidence, knowledge and skills have improved more quickly than I had anticipated. I belong to a local art group at our Senior center and several seasoned watercolorists marvel at my skill level at 9 months.

"The Garden Studio has impacted me in the most positive ways. The most important is getting to learn new skills and sharpen them as I go. It’s also helped me to become more creative in other parts of my life; observation, journaling, photography and drawing. I immediately felt at ease with the way The Garden Studio was designed. I feel encouraged, challenged, excited and passionate about something new."
Stacie Greening

I was taking lessons before joining and was going to have to quit because it was too expensive. I enjoy carving out time for myself to become better at something that I’m really interested in. I like being able to watch a video without doing anything and then go back and do the drawing or the painting. The fact that we have access to so many videos is awesome.
Laura Reynolds

I have never been happier than I am in The Garden Studio. I have my little art studio always set up, and I try to paint every day. The community is like none other — your fellow artists care for you, not just your paintings or questions, but your life. This community has saved me.
Eleanor Mack
Before I joined The Garden Studio, I had I was stuck in one place with a brush and a piece of paper, but since joining I am Playing like a child with colors and brushes like a kid with the box of 64 Crayolas!
If painting or drawing in any way intimidates you but you have always wanted to try your hand at it, The Garden Studio is where it’s at. Great classes, tons of materials and the freedom to work at your own pace and in your own home. Grab your brush and let’s go!

Painting is one of the best stress-relief activities that I have found. It is a calm activity that involves concentration and ends with a feeling of accomplishment and a product that I 1 am pleased to share with my family.
It is so wonderful to find a group whose members are so enthusiastic about everyone else's endeavors. The willingness to encourage each other and to give honest and constructive feedback is so refreshing in the ME- ME- ME world we live in today. Reading the comments on-line helps me learn about painting, but it also reminds me that that there are still people in this world who are happy to provide support, bolster someone who needs a hand on their shoulder, and who speak with kindness. It is a model for me to try to emulate these kind people in my every day life.

After several times in outside classes, three years ago, I gave up watercolor since I didn’t improve at all. I had bought paints, paper and some supplies, and I stored them away thinking I was done with watercolor. Then this year I took a leap and joined Alex FB class. It’s been a whirlwind of many lessons, but manageable, knowing the lessons are always available as long as I’m in the group. I am very pleased at how much I have learned!
Before I joined The Garden Studio, I had given up on watercolor, but since joining I am Newly Encouraged and excited to be painting.

I wanted to learn watercolor but thought it was much too challenging until I discovered the Watercolor class offered by Alex 6 months ago. Alex is such a gifted, encouraging teacher, that I was having success when I joined the Garden Studio. Now my challenge is devoting more hours to practice without interruption. Alex and her staff are attentive and available promptly when I have inquired about a class. THANK YOU, Alex

Do it for yourself and don't look back. You've probably dreamed about it for a long time like I did. Never quite finding the time to do it. Now you can do it on your schedule so there's no excuses.
Before I joined The Garden Studio I had lack of confidence, but since joining I am feeling more in charge of my artwork and ability to share with others.
Jennifer Davis
Before I joined The Garden Studio, I had learned the basics of watercolor and did not feel very confident to paint flowers, but since joining I am making progress and enjoying the process.
Alex's style of teaching is what I enjoy the most. She explains the "why" of something and not just the "how to" which I feel is very important.

Before I joined The Garden Studio, I had no desire or ambition to paint again, but since joining I am back to painting almost daily and also doing some commissions again. My own art has taken on dimensions that have impressed other and the most important of all, my own growth has impressed myself. I hadn't realized how important that was before opening and entering The Garden Studio gate. I encourage everyone, "OPEN THAT GATE!
I signed up and my creative world and confidence has blossomed. Alex's classes and engaging with other students/artists has been more than a blessing.

I have never in my life had an instructor for anything that makes me feel as comfortable and relaxed while learning as Alex does. And her knowledge is remarkable for being self-taught. I highly recommend her.
years and acrylics about the last 10. I teach a local group of people how to paint every couple of months. I tried and failed at watercolor sooooo many times that I gave up until I found Alex. Oh my, what a fun time I have now painting. I can spend a little while or a long time at it and sort of neglect my other mediums, LOL.
Sharon Schuyler
Before I joined The Garden Studio, I had fear of watercolor painting and ignorance of tools and paints, but since joining I am confident of techniques while I improve, various paints and lessened my inhibition to paint.
I needed this activity and education since losing my hubbie almost 3 years ago. I have learned so much from Alex since starting classes and The Garden Studio. Shapes, sketch guidance, shade, depth, techniques to illustrate movement, mixing colors to get other colors, understanding botanicals better, leaves, directions of flowers and on and on. Continuing to learn and enjoy, this has brought me challenge and peace.

My mom was a painter and I was hoping it was genetic!! I bought books, did a few on-line lessons, but I really wanted to LEARN! Having signed up for The Garden Studio has made a world of difference! I can feel my improvement in my bones! I am more confident and willing to risk on my own using what I’m learning from Alex. Before I joined The Garden Studio, I had Frustration starting a painting, but since joining I am Excited to start, to see what I can do!!
The FB group is so encouraging, so much that I have posted several paintings!! My questions are always answered. My color mixing is SO much better! I’m not afraid to try a painting that is above my skill level because I know I will learn and improve!

The Garden Studio has filled hours in my retirement with a growth I didn't realize I needed. At 73, I've even started selling pieces in a local boutique. Do something just for yourself — not for your husband or your kids. Just for you!
Marsha Langellier
"When I began, I didn't know how to work with watercolors at all. Watercolor Week started my journey in The Garden Studio, and it's now been going for a few years. I have made my own compositions and entered them to the fair — and gotten first prize! That felt so amazing."
Chrissy Cariveau
The Garden Studio gave me access to Alex's process and community, which opened my heart to the belief I could be an artist. paint at least three or four times a week, often more. I feel confident, joyful, and grateful as I paint. You have no idea what you're capable of, and you are going to be so delighted with what you create.
Boston Clavering

It is a great experience! Never think or say I can’t do this because I never painted before. Maybe it will take you a bit longer to get to your end result but you will be amazed at how far you will come in just a few months. The whole idea of creating something beautiful from beginning to end will push you to places you may never have gone before.
